The Clairfield academy gives Frankfurt School of Finance students insights into M&A

26.4.2018

Clairfield International sponsored a learning and outreach event for students at the Frankfurt School of Finance earlier this month. The invitation-only event for the top students at this leading business school gave a taste of life in the corporate finance world. The afternoon consisted of a workshop on valuation and a roundtable on opportunities and pitfalls in the M&A process, imparted by senior partners at Clairfield. It was followed by a reception in which students could learn about investment banking career opportunities and continue their questions on the corporate finance life in a more relaxed setting with Clairfield senior partners and associates.

This event took place under the auspices of the Clairfield Academy, Clairfield’s in-house training platform for junior-level staff. The Clairfield Academy provides analysts and associates with corporate finance, M&A, and strategic advisory education as well as training in presentation techniques, negotiations and other technical skills; and facilitates global networking, relationships, and exchange of skills and know-how among Clairfield team members.

This was the second year that Clairfield has sponsored an event for selected students at the Frankfurt School of Finance. “It’s a great way to introduce students to middle-market corporate finance, and on our side we get a first look at who we may be recruiting in the upcoming months,” said Albert Schander, founder and managing partner of Clairfield International in Germany. “It’s a pleasure to see interest in the middle market from the students and we are pleased to see increased participation from women and from international students.”

From technical capability to economic inevitability: Why Clean Energy companies fail to scale?

Working with organisations attempting to commercialise clean energy technologies, I have observed a pattern persistent enough to warrant explicit articulation. Across hydrogen, electrification, storage, biogas, low-carbon fuels, and industrial heat, companies with credible technology, capable teams, and supportive boards still fail to compound enterprise value. Not because the technology disappoints, and not because the market […]

Those are the right questions. But they’re not always the only ones that matter. Embedded in both is an assumption; that the […]

On the floor at EvokeAg 2026: Luke Harwood’s reflections on Australian Agtech

EvokeAg 2026 drew over 1,500 delegates from 18 countries to Melbourne in February, with the Federal Government committing another $450,000 to support the event over the next three years. The visible momentum is real, and the cohort of companies I spent two days meeting reflected it. Most were past proof-of-concept by a meaningful margin, with […]
