Raising a glass to our mid-year promotees

31.7.2023

Fast-tracking our team’s career success is something we’re incredibly passionate about at InterFinancial. And, because we’re a specialist firm, and our team can be hands-on from the get-go across a variety of projects, it’s something we do well (if we do say so ourselves)!

So, we couldn’t be prouder to announce the mid-year promotions of three of our team members – Mark Steinhardt, Maggie Liu and Anuk Manchanda. These promotions recognise the exceptional work these three are already delivering for our clients and will continue to deliver as they step up into more senior positions.

Mark Steinhardt – promoted from Director to Executive Director

Mark, our go-to guy for large, complex transactions and, importantly, author of IFL’s ‘Friday awesome’, has been with us since 2010. With more than 20 years’ experience analysing equity markets and working with business owners, Mark’s led numerous highly successful transactions, including with Private Equity and offshore investors while at IFL.

Maggie Liu – promoted from Associate to Senior Consultant

Our in-house China expert, Maggie’s a member of our M&A delivery team and looks after Clairfield’s China Desk.  With us for only 18 months, Maggie has already proven herself to be a powerhouse in equity markets and corporate finance – putting her expertise to work on our largest transaction this year.  And she’s done all this while being mum to two small humans. Wonderwoman.

Anuk Manchanda – promoted from Associate Director to Director

Anuk joined us in 2021, bringing with him more than 10 years’ experience in mid-market M&A in Australia, working with EY and a Sydney-based boutique advisor. Anuk’s promotion is recognition for his recent work leading deals for IFL. Given his depth of experience across industries and advising on the sale of private companies, some might be surprised to learn that Anuk started his career as a software engineer. A man of many talents!

“Congratulations Mark, Maggie and Anuk. We’re incredibly proud of the work that you deliver to our clients, and we’re thrilled to be able to recognise your progression in skills and experience. We’re looking forward to supporting you in the next stage of your careers.”

Brad Shaw, CEO, InterFinancial.

Hats off to the team.

From technical capability to economic inevitability: Why Clean Energy companies fail to scale?

Working with organisations attempting to commercialise clean energy technologies, I have observed a pattern persistent enough to warrant explicit articulation. Across hydrogen, electrification, storage, biogas, low-carbon fuels, and industrial heat, companies with credible technology, capable teams, and supportive boards still fail to compound enterprise value. Not because the technology disappoints, and not because the market […]

Not every healthcare deal is a sale: rethinking what M&A can look like

When healthcare business owners come to us thinking about a transaction, the conversation almost always starts in the same place. What is the business worth, and what does a sale process look like? Those are the right questions. But they’re not always the only ones that matter. Embedded in both is an assumption; that the […]

On the floor at EvokeAg 2026: Luke Harwood’s reflections on Australian Agtech

EvokeAg 2026 drew over 1,500 delegates from 18 countries to Melbourne in February, with the Federal Government committing another $450,000 to support the event over the next three years. The visible momentum is real, and the cohort of companies I spent two days meeting reflected it. Most were past proof-of-concept by a meaningful margin, with […]
