Idea 11 & PieLAB aiming for the cloud

17.12.2020

IFL Ventures acted as corporate advisor to Brisbane based IT consulting company Idea 11 on partnering with Australian based diversified investment group PieLAB Council Capital.

PieLAB has made a significant investment in the full-stack AWS IT company but it is not the capital backing that drove Idea 11’s decision.  “In PieLAB we found not only an alignment of cultures and personalities but a group of individuals with proven track records in growing significant businesses” said James Kahn, founder and CEO of Idea 11.

Specialising in digital transformations, cloud infrastructure, software development and managed services for mid-market corporate and government, Idea 11 is a significant AWS partner in Queensland and has recently expanded into NSW. “For some time, we have been looking at how we take Idea 11 from having a significant presence in Queensland to becoming a significant national provider of mid-market digital transformation services. This partnership will help elevate us to being a national player”.

The PieLAB group, led by Australian entrepreneur turned growth capital investor Chris Rolls, has a history of successfully investing in and growing small-to-medium businesses in Australia. “Idea 11 has all the ingredients we are looking for in our companies. They are exceptionally well led by James Kahn and there is an impressive team around him. They have a stellar reputation with their customers and their vendors and the opportunity ahead, is immense. Cloud computing and the digitisation of corporates is a growing and sustainable space and AWS is the leading provider of cloud computing services in the world. Idea 11 now have the backing and support to expand their geographical footprint with AWS in Australia.” said Chris Rolls, Managing Director, PieLAB Council Capital.

“It is an exciting time to be in managed services and cloud computing. We are now over a decade into our journey at Idea 11 and very much looking forward to the next decade” said James. “This partnership will not change our identity or our commitment to our values of delighting our customers, caring about our people and what we do, and meeting a standard of excellence. This partnership will strengthen our brand and our position in the IT services market in Australia, moving towards our goal of being a national, cloud-first MSP”.
